About this course
A highly interactive two-session (8 hours total) course that shows you how to use the internal audit as a practical tool to assure your approach to Travel Risk Management (TRM) programme in line with ISO 31030:2021. We focus on process effectiveness, risk and evidence—so you can produce concise, value-adding audit reports that help management make decisions and drive cost-effective improvements.
Recommended pathway: Complete the International SOS Foundation – ISO 31030 Training, then take the next step, the MSS Global Internal Auditor course.
Who should attend
Travel risk managers, compliance/audit staff, HR with travel oversight, and H&S/security practitioners in any sector who need to evaluate TRM performance and report clear findings.
What you will learn
- Plan, conduct, report and follow up internal audits of your TRM program against ISO 31030.
- Set up a simple TRM audit program (frequency, scope, roles, sampling) aligned to your travel risk profile.
- Apply a process-auditing lens across the travel journey (pre-trip → during travel → post-trip) to test real-world effectiveness.
- Write incisive, reliable reports: clear evidence, balanced conclusions, actionable follow-up.
- Link auditing to Plan–Do–Check–Act (PDCA) so findings translate into sustained improvement and integrate into broader elements of your management system.
Content (2 × 4 hours, live online)
Day 1 – Foundations & Planning (4h)

- Embedding findings in PDCA and management review for continual improvement.
Active learning
Live virtual classroom with case studies, short simulations, breakout discussions, and downloadable templates (audit plan, question guide, evidence log, findings & actions register). You can apply exercises to your own organization or a provided case.
